Capitol View Becomes Santa’s Workshop

It was an exciting day for nearly 200 2nd and 3rd graders at Capitol View as their gym became an annex of Santa’s workshop. Thanks to Ken Deever and his Rooftop Foundation, students were treated to breakfast, a shopping trip to Walmart (complete with a $60 gift card), and after gift wrapping their purchases in the school gym Santa Claus stopped by and presented each with gifts of their own. Tutoring Sign Up for Title I Students

Students who attend a Title I school in Des Moines like Capitol View may be eligible for tutoring services at no cost to their family. In order to be eligible students must attend one of the 28 Title I schools in Des Moines and meet low income guidelines. To learn more and to register, click on the headline.

Learn About School Choice for 2015-16

Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, this school will be offering school choice for the 2015-16 school year. A Glowing End to a Great Year

So this was fun: Capitol View Elementary School celebrated our successful year of learning and our positive behavior\ with a special glow stick dance performed by our teachers. DMPS Offers Free Summer Meal Program

DMPS will again offer breakfast and lunch over the summer months to children 18 and younger. The number of sites has grown, and so have the number of meals served. Last summer, DMPS staff fed children 28,722 breakfasts and 79,698 lunches. DMPS has sponsored a summer meal program for more than 30 years.
