The school bell times at Capitol View will change with the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. Our new start time is 7:30 AM and we will dismiss at 2:25 PM, with a 75 minute early dismissal on Wednesdays. The Tooth Fairy is thought to be strictly nocturnal, making her rounds while kids are asleep and leaving them a token in exchange for the baby teeth they leave for her under their pillows. But she made a rare public appearance in broad daylight Thursday at Capitol View Elementary School to help kids take proper care of the teeth that replace the ones she collects. Beginning in August, all schools at DMPS will have new hours. The new hours at our school will be 7:30 AM to 2:25 PM. The change is being made to better serve the educational needs of students, based on research into the sleep patterns of children and teenagers. Click the headline for more information.
Fourth grade, aka The Class of 2026 according to the Capitol View hoodies many of them were wearing, is wrapping up a social studies unit about the state of Iowa. To cap it off the 4th grade teaching team came up with the idea of Iowa College Day. It was a hit! Click on the headline to read more and see photos.
Three community sponsors saw to it that all 600+ students at the school, from PreK through 5th grade, received something to wear, something to read and something to eat this year.
